Appreciate the comments James & Matthew.

Matthew, I felt after pushing GTD into my world about 4 years ago that the seminar shed a lot of light on the reality of the simplicity of the system. I felt like the way I was applying gtd was with a hammer and came away with a simple glue recipe to make things stick. As well I got a lot better view of how the altitudes play into the system, which before I had just been playing lip service to. I'd be curious what others that have adopted gtd many moons ago did get out of the seminar since we all probably have blind spots that might have been solved for there.

As to the woman who was working towards a documentary I've yet to track her down or find a note of name. My wife and I were going to wait till the end to firm up the connections of those sitting around us and she left in the last 20m not to return.

Thanks for the summary. I'm glad you got a lot of the seminar. For me, having adopted GTD prior to attending, it was less useful in that respect, but still fun (seeing David Allen present was a treat).

Also, I'd be interested in learning the name of the woman working on the documentary, if you ended up finding it.

Thanks for an excellent summary of a great day in NYC! I am still reflecting on the seminar and all the substance that I gained, not only from David, but from my interactions with those sitting around me, and from the short but powerful pow-wow of GTD|Connect members afterwards.

Hi there Frank, thanks for the response. David travels quite a bit so keep your ears out for when he comes nearby.

The woman making the documentary was at the class to try and understand the man more so she could give a better pitch to the 'committee'. She said she had been denied before due to the the approval committee thinking he was focused and only useful for professionals. My wife and I gave her a great overview of how this works from the kid level up, and that everyone really could benefit from the application of GTD. It was a narrow view to think those in a professional role were the only benefactors. I believe she worked for a New York PBS affiliate but I never got to touch base with her again to trade personal information. Seeing David recently in CNN with over 500k books sold, I think he's pretty important. Where that goes in the future is anyones guess. After talking on the level with David he's in this game to educate and loves what he does. That passion will keep him moving around that's for sure.

Wow, excellent story on a day with the Roadmap. I have never attended one, since I live in the Netherlands and I like the way you describe how it ended up for you. Can you perhaps tell a bit more about the lady making the documentary. Makes me wonder how "important" David Allen is....if there will even be a documentary...
